Hi, I’m Angus Taylor
It’s an honour and privilege to serve the people of Hume and as Leader of the Opposition.
About me
"I promise to work tirelessly to repay the trust the voters of Hume have placed in me."
Growing Up
I was born in the southern NSW town of Nimmitabel. I grew up on the family farm with my three brothers and my parents.

Studies
After I finished school, I completed a Bachelor of Economics and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Sydney before earning a Rhodes Scholarship to study Economics at Oxford University.

Career before politics
Before entering parliament I worked as a management consultant. I advised Australian and global organisations across the energy, resources, agriculture and infrastructure sectors, helping them make smarter, long-term decisions.

Family
In 1997 I married my wife Louise and since then we’ve raised our four children in Goulburn.

Entering Parliament
In 2013 I was elected to Parliament as the Member for Hume.
From day one, I've focused on regional growth, strong local economies, and backing families, farmers and small businesses across the electorate.

Ministry
From 2016 to 2022 I had the honour of serving as a minister across a number of portfolios, including as Minister for Law Enforcement and Cybersecurity, before spending the majority of my time as a minister within the Energy and Emissions Reduction portfolio.

Today
Since the 2022 election I have served as the Shadow Treasurer and Shadow Defence Minister. In 2026 I was elected as Leader of the Federal Liberal Party and together with my team, we will work everyday to hold this failing government to account. I remain as committed today to defending Australian values and delivering for my community as when I first entered Parliament.

Throughout my career, I've brought real-world experience into public life, combining national leadership with a strong connection to the communities of Hume, always focused on practical solutions that deliver for families, businesses and regional Australia.
