Pollie Pedal 2025 set to roll through South Australia in support of veterans - Sunday, 21 September 2025

Monday, 22 September 2025

Pollie Pedal, one of Australia’s longest-running charity cycling events, will take place in South Australia from 21 to 28 September 2025, raising funds and awareness for veterans of Australia’s Special Operations Command and their families.

Since its inception in 1998, Pollie Pedal has become a proud tradition on Australia’s cycling calendar. Over nearly three decades, the event has covered more than 25,000 kilometres and raised more than $7.4 million for important charitable causes.

This year, more than 30 riders will participate in the week-long journey, travelling through regional communities and connecting with locals along the way. The ride will begin at Adelaide’s iconic Light’s Vision and through the ANZAC Centenary Memorial Walk, before heading to Henley Beach, Largs Bay, Clare, Wallaroo, Port Pirie, Burra and Tanunda, and finishing back in Adelaide via the Barossa Valley.

Pollie Pedal 2025 will once again support Wandering Warriors, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to helping veterans transition to civilian life. Funds raised will go towards expanding the organisation’s scholarship programs, which have already provided life-changing education and career opportunities for many veterans and their families.

Shadow Minister for Defence and Chair of Pollie Pedal, Angus Taylor, said the event was about more than just cycling, “Pollie Pedal is about community, service, and giving back to those who have given so much for our country. Each year, the ride brings together people from all walks of life in a spirit of mateship and support. I’m proud that in 2025, we’ll be riding for Wandering Warriors and the vital work they do for our veterans.”

Mr Taylor also thanked the event’s sponsors for their ongoing support.

“Pollie Pedal simply wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our fantastic sponsors, who help us keep the wheels turning and ensure funds raised go directly to veterans and their families.”

Pollie Pedal Founder and Patron, former Prime Minister, the Hon Tony Abbott AC, said it was humbling to see the ride still going strong.

“When we started Pollie Pedal in 1998, the idea was simple: to get Members of Parliament out into regional Australia, meeting communities and raising money for causes that matter.

Nearly three decades on, to see that spirit continuing today, supporting such a worthy charity, is very encouraging. Our veterans have given so much for Australia, and they deserve every opportunity to thrive after their service, and Pollie Pedal is proud to play a part in making that happen”, Mr Abbott said.

Wandering Warriors CEO Quentin Masson said the partnership would make a tangible difference for veterans and their families.

“Wandering Warriors is honoured to be the charity partner for Pollie Pedal 2025. Transitioning from service to civilian life is one of the biggest challenges veterans and their families face. The funds raised through this event will help us grow our scholarship program, ensuring more veterans have access to the education and training they need for a successful future.”

This will be the first time Pollie Pedal has returned to South Australia since 2013, marking a special homecoming for the event.
