Anthony Albanese failed his own test: he has failed to plan for the risks in our region.  

 

This is a serious foreign policy embarrassment on his watch.  

 

The forging of a nation is not simply the sketching of new lines on a map, it is the binding together of present and countless future generations in a commitment to a shared destiny.

The Coalition welcomes the Albanese Government’s announcement of $12 billion investment for the Henderson defence precinct, after calls from the Coalition to accelerate its development. 
 

Federal Member for Hume and Shadow Minister for Defence Angus Taylor has raised serious concerns about the Albanese Government’s decision to cut funding from the Salvation Army’s “Sallyman” program.

 

A total of 25 organisations have been awarded grants under the Australian Government’s 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Program.

$10 million dollars was made available to 151 electorates, with more than $66,000 of that allocated to the electorate of Hume.

The Coalition welcomes today’s AUKMIN announcements and the renewed commitment to AUKUS from Australia and the United Kingdom. This is a positive and necessary step in strengthening Australia’s security and strategic resilience through the AUKUS partnership.

 

Reports today that the AUKUS agreement is under review by the US Pentagon are deeply concerning and add to a growing list of issues in Australia’s relationship with the United States – a relationship that took another hit just yesterday.

 

 

The Australian Electoral Commission has now formally declared the seat of Hume.

 

It’s an honour and privilege to be given the opportunity to serve as your local member for another three years.

 

Australia is entering the most challenging strategic environment since the Second World War and I take on the role of Shadow Defence Minister with this front of mind.
