Angus backs Team Kermit in Camp Quality Race

Tuesday, 23 August 2016

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor is urging people to get behind Camden icon Kermit and the team as they gear up for the 2016 Camp Quality esCarpade to raise money for children living with cancer.

“It is heart-breaking to know that every day, two families across the country will be told that their child has cancer,” he said.

“It’s thanks to the commitment of people like Rob Elliott, Marty Magro, Barrie Grimes and John and Wayne Gannon from Team Kermit that Camp Quality can continue their amazing work with bringing the magic of laughter to children battling cancer.”

Mr Elliott said this will be Team Kermit's 6th year supporting Camp Quality and they are Macarthur's own community sponsored car in the event.

“Over the past five years Team Kermit has raised over $340,000 with the support of the local Macarthur community and we appreciate having our local Member Angus Taylor continuing this proud legacy from our local civic leaders,” Mr Elliott said.

Now in its 25th year, the 72 competitors in 2016 Camp Quality’s esCarpade have raised $274,188 and are pushing to raise $1.3 million over the course of their journey from Batemans Bay-to-Phillip Island-to-Griffith.

“I would like to encourage locals throughout the Macarthur region to get behind Team Kermit and support them as they continue to prove that laughter is the best medicine for children battling cancer,” Mr Taylor said.
