Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has secured support for employees at National Engineering at Young following the collapse of the company late last month.

Mr Taylor said he had made representations to the Minister for Employment, Senator Eric Abetz, who had agreed to make officials available to assist with paperwork to claim the Fair Entitlements Guarantee.

“I am deeply concerned about the some 40 workers in Young who have been affected by the closure of National Engineering and am working to support them,” Mr Taylor said today.

“The Government has established contact with the administrator to commence planning in support of priority assessment of claims for the employees of National Engineering.

“I have asked the Minister to have his department work with the administrator to prioritise assessments and do everything possible to try and finalise claim payments before Christmas.

“Workers who need support or assistance in completing the Fair Entitlements Guarantee paperwork may also contact my Cowra office on (02) 6341 1106.”
