Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced funding for mobile child care services supporting the Hume electorate.

“I am pleased to announce that Crookwell Mobile Long Day Care, which supports families in Binda, Laggan, Bigga and Rye Park, will receive $130,000 in funding,” Mr Taylor said.

He said the funding grant would help with the cost of purchasing a new vehicle, training staff and buying new educational equipment.

“Mobile services do a fantastic job supporting communities where access to permanent child care services is not always available. They provide our electorate with a broad range of services such as playgroups, vacation care, on-farm care, parenting support and toy and DVD lending libraries.”

A total of 44 mobile services are being supported by the Budget Based Funded (BBF) programme, with grants of up to $130,000 depending on size and need.

One in five BBF mobile services primarily care for indigenous children.

“Families need access to affordable, flexible and high quality child care no matter where they live. This funding will help with the training of staff to deal with the unique challenges that come with delivering high-quality child care on the road and ensure vehicles are maintained to a safe and reliable standard,” Mr Taylor said.
