Harden Streets are Safer Streets

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has inspected the CCTV (closed circuit television) installation at the Mechanics Institute on Neill Street.

Mr Taylor said the CCTV camera and monitoring station were the result of $8,000 in Federal funding under the Australian Government’s Safer Streets programme.

“With a refreshed Harden CBD, it is important we keep it that way, and these CCTV cameras will assist council and local law enforcement officers in reducing anti-social behaviour and vandalism,” he said.

Mr Taylor said the Australian Government’s Safer Streets programme was a $50 million commitment toward the installation of CCTV and safety lighting in central business districts across Australia.

“I’m looking forward to working with Harden Shire Council on further opportunities under the programme, for example installation of CCTV at the Murrumboola Creek playground and public toilets block.”

Harden Shire Council is one of four Safer Streets projects funded in the Hume electorate.
