In the past 18 months, more than 34,000 premises in Hume have connected to satellite, fibre or fixed wireless NBN.

Take-up rates in Hume are well higher than the state and national average.

  • in Mount Annan take-up is at 72.4%

  • in Camden Park take-up is at 70.3%
  • in Bundanoon take-up is at 70.2%
  • in Goulburn take-up is at 68.5%

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said fast broadband was transforming the region’s households and businesses.

“All this has happened in just a few years. In fact, in the 12 months to January this year the NBN connected an average of about 74 premises a day in Hume.

“The Coalition is driving a telecoms revolution through unprecedented investment and a commitment to deliver a technology solution for everyone,” he said.

More than 2400 premises in rural communities like those around Tuena and Taralga are accessing NBN’s satellite service. Dozens of small villages like Wingello and Exeter are now connected to fixed wireless technology.

“Fast broadband is bringing families closer, creating safer communities and making it easier to do business,” Mr Taylor said.
