Hume shows can apply now for pandemic payment

Monday, 21 September 2020

Show societies in Hume can now apply for a one-off payment under the Australian Government’s $39 million Supporting Agricultural Shows and Field Days program.

The program provides operational support for agricultural show societies and organisers of agricultural field days forced to cancel their scheduled show or field day in 2020 because of COVID-19.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said local show societies would have until 9 October 2020 to apply under the first round of funding.

“This is a fantastic initiative to ensure our local shows can recover and continue supporting the economy and our agricultural communities,” Mr Taylor said.

“I want to encourage all local show societies in this area to apply as soon as possible.”

“Our country shows are so important to regional Australia and are pulled together by dedicated volunteers in the community.”

“This financial assistance will provide funding to keep these events running post-COVID-19 and ensure planning can begin for shows in 2021 and continue into the future.”
