Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has welcomed the turning on of a mobile tower at Wilton.

Mr Taylor said he was delighted to see another new phone tower up and running in Hume.

“Residents in Wilton and those travelling up and down the Hume Hwy in this area have waited many years for mobile coverage, and I’m pleased to announce that the tower is now operating and residents can benefit from new and improved coverage,” Mr Taylor said.

“Since the Coalition came to Government we have dramatically improved mobile phone coverage across a vast area of Hume whether that be through funding from the Mobile Black Spot Program or working with Telstra to provide coverage to specific areas such as Wilton.”

Mr Taylor said he would continue to push for mobile service improvements in other areas around his electorate.

“The Government will shortly call for applications under Round 5A of the Mobile Black Spot Program. This Round will focus on delivering improved mobile coverage in disaster-prone areas.”
