More opportunities to build a better, stronger Hume

Another round of the Building Better Regions Fund (BBRF) will provide eligible local councils and organisations a golden opportunity to deliver projects their communities need to thrive.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said this week’s Budget announcement that $200 million had been allocated for a third round of the BBRF would be a boon for the regions.

“This is a direct investment into the economic and social infrastructure of our regional communities,” Mr Taylor said.

“This latest round is a golden opportunity for the regions, for many parts of my electorate, because we know these programs are job creators and community builders.

“We’re seeing work now on the upgrade of the Rocky Hill Museum and precinct in Goulburn, which received $1.25 million under Round 1 of the BBRF.

“Jobs are being created in construction and when finished it will be able to accommodate larger touring groups and more significant exhibitions.”

Following the success of Round 1 of the BBRF which created 26,000 jobs through 257 projects nationally - and with Round 2 BBRF projects currently under assessment - a third round of funding will deliver even more jobs and more economic growth in our regions.

“I will strongly urge organisations and the community to take advantage of this latest round when applications are called later this year,” Mr Taylor said.

He said extending the BBRF to a third round would also allow community organisations that may have previously missed out to have the opportunity to expand and further develop their applications.

The BBRF aims to support job-creating infrastructure projects with grants available from $20,000 to $10 million.

The BBRF also supports a Community Investments Stream which funds community activities, new or expanded local events, strategic regional plans, and leadership and capability strengthening activities.

More than $641 million will be committed over the three rounds of the BBRF.

Decisions on projects under round two of the fund are expected towards the middle of this year.
