NBN switched on in Boorowa township

Monday, 19 March 2018

NBN optic fibre has been rolled out across the township of Boorowa with service now available for 760 premises.

60 premises have already connected.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor is encouraging residents to make inquiries about how to connect.

“Once the word spreads about the strong speeds and reliability, I know many more people will make the switch,” Mr Taylor said.

“We have incredibly high take-up rates in parts of Hume, well above the state and national average.

“While many landowners in the Boorowa district will be accessing fast internet via NBN satellite, it is also great news that the fibre rollout has been completed in town.

“The NBN is offering a fast broadband solution for everyone in Hume, whether it be satellite, fixed line or fixed wireless services.”

Boorowa resident and school bus driver Graham Jenkins said connecting to the NBN had doubled his internet speed.

“It’s working really well. I was dropping down to between five and 12 mbps on ADSL, now I’m on 20 to 25 mpbs. I can’t see why anyone in Boorowa would need speeds greater than this.”

Mr Taylor said the NBN was now available to 96 per cent of Hume, or almost 66,000 premises, with the rollout in the home straight.
