Work on the new Penrose Community Hall will soon be underway.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor and State Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman joined Wingecarribee Council Administrator Viv May and the Penrose Community Association to mark the commencement of construction by Greenwich Build Pty Ltd.

Construction of the hall has been made possible by $1,697,119 contribution through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery (BLER) Fund, co-funded by the Australian and NSW Governments to the Penrose Community Association.

The new hall will include an auditorium for around 130 people, (compared to 70 in the current hall) room for a stage with wheelchair access along with a green room, kitchen and indoor toilets for the community to use.

Mrs Tuckerman said the Penrose Community for many years has needed an upgraded hall and improvement to the surrounding facilities – going as far to privately fund the plans themselves.

“I commend the Penrose Community Association and Penrose Hall Management Committee on their application and initiative to get this project funded. These great new facilities will benefit the local community for generations to come.

“I look forward to watching construction progress and seeing the finished product,” Mrs Tuckerman said.

Mr Taylor said construction of the hall is not only about infrastructure but also delivering significant social and community outcomes.

“The Penrose community hall is one of eleven projects to be funded – but also just one part of the complete recovery journey of the region."
