Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced Home and Community Care (HACC) funding totalling $312,065 for five service providers operating aged care support services across Hume.

Mr Taylor said the tender and assessment process had been highly competitive and congratulated the following organisations on their successful applications:

Cowra Community Information & Neighbourhood Centre                                       $24,000

Cowra /Grenfell Meals on Wheels Food Services Inc                                             $104,000

Crookwell/Taralga Aged Care Ltd                                                                           $76,418

Home Care Service of NSW                                                                                   $61,647

Roman Catholic Church for the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn              $46,000

(as trustees for CatholicCare)

“The HACC program provides critical basic maintenance, support and care services where most elderly people prefer to be, namely in their own homes and in their own communities,” Mr Taylor said.

“The type of support we’re talking about includes personal care, domestic assistance, meals, nursing care, social support and transport, as well as respite services for carers. Without these services many elderly residents wouldn’t be able to keep living independently.”

Crookwell / Taralga Aged Care Ltd Chairman, Max Keith, said the funding announcement was great news, as it meant that a local provider was managing the services for the local community.

“We are really delighted with this contract to provide home care services at Crookwell and Taralga. We strongly believe that the best care is given by locals who know the community well and know the individuals concerned. It is about helping elderly people remain connected with their community and in control of their own lives,” Mr Keith said.
