Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor is undertaking a pre-Christmas road trip to meet Hume’s 12 mayors on priority issues for 2014.

Mr Taylor has met with a majority of local mayors, with further meetings to be scheduled in coming weeks.

“I have been in regular contact with councils across Hume. It is important to touch base as we head toward the end of the year and the Christmas break,” Mr Taylor said.

“The meetings have raised a number of common themes: that councils have been left high and dry by Labor’s unfunded promises on RDA (Regional Development Australia) projects, that poor mobile phone coverage and internet access are crippling regional businesses and the urgent need for more local jobs and a kick start for regional economies.

“These are all areas I am targeting, as is the new Government. Hume is a large area and I will be driving around regularly to meetings and events. My office will be publishing a schedule of village visits for 2014 so that residents can know well in advance when I will be in their local area and we can organise a time to catch up.

“In the meantime, I am contactable via my two electorate offices in Goulburn (ph 4822 2277) and Cowra (ph 6341 1106), on email angus.taylor.mp@aph.gov.au and anytime on Facebook.

“I am keen to say hello and a heartfelt thanks to as many constituents as possible. Hume recorded a strong voter turnout at the recent election with just under 95% (AEC figure 94.98%) of eligible voters having their say. That’s a great response rate and I’m indebted to many people for the support I have been shown,” he said.
