Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor says it’s unlikely a three cornered contest will eventuate in the State seat of Goulburn.

Speaking on Goulburn Radio 2GN Mr Taylor said while he was disappointed with Katrina Hodgkinson’s decision to run for preselection for the National Party, he did not think it would turn into a challenge for the seat.

“The reason I’m disappointed is that we’ve got two very senior capable Cabinet Ministers from this broader region – and if this keeps going the way it is, we will only end up with one. And I think that’s bad for Goulburn and bad for the region.

“I spent much of this week out at Young and Cootamundra and Harden and these are the areas that Katrina’s currently representing and she won’t be representing in the future if she runs in Goulburn. People there are confused as to why she would drop two thirds of her current constituents for another seat.

“I’m going to make a bold prediction and that is, that wisdom will prevail. To lose one of these two women would be bad news for us all,” Mr Taylor said.
