Taylor tours Cootamundra Nursing Home

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has toured the Cootamundra Nursing Home to view the installation of a new fire sprinkler system.

“I joined Chairperson Judy Braybrooks and Director of Nursing Ann Dawes and was delighted to learn more about the community’s fundraising efforts toward the sprinkler system. I also appreciated the opportunity to meet several residents,” Mr Taylor said.

“Staff at Coota Nursing Home and the community are fortunate to have such a high standard of care available locally. I was very impressed with the centre.

“The Federal Budget contained some important changes to support older people who need care. We know that most people want to remain living in their own home for as long as possible, so we are providing more support for people to stay at home. In order to do so we are increasing the number of home care packages - there will be an additional 80,000 over the next ten years.

“The Government will continue to subsidise the majority of aged care services, however we are asking people who can afford to contribute to the cost of their aged care to do so. I look forward to continue working with the Cootamundra Nursing Home as changes to this important sector progress,” Mr Taylor said.
