Upgrades for Goulburn Rodeo, new lights for Mt Annan footy

Friday, 26 April 2019

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor has announced Federal funding for two popular sporting clubs.

The 51-year-old Goulburn Rodeo Club will receive $23,350 for the resurfacing of the rodeo arena at the showground, as well as $40,000 under the Federal Government’s Building Better Regions Fund to build toilet blocks.

Under the Sport 2030 program, Mt Annan Football Club will receive $91,220 to upgrade Wandarrah Reserve at Mount Annan.

Angus Taylor said the upgrades were to encourage more people to get involved in playing and supporting community sport.

“Goulburn Rodeo has a major rodeo event in February every year, attracting thousands of spectators and competitors from as far away as Queensland. We can do better than portaloos,” Mr Taylor said.

“There’s funding also for resurfacing the rodeo arena to lift the standard of local equestrian and pony club events, like barrel racing and flag racing,” said Mr Taylor.

Goulburn Rodeo Club president Jeff Rowson: “Thanks Angus. We just keep pushing on and trying to improve all the time. There’s a lot of people who follow the rodeo circuit and this will really lift the standard of facilities here at Goulburn.”

Mt Annan Football Club will receive a full upgrade and replacement of the floodlighting at Wandarrah Reserve.

Improved lighting means the club can host evening sport, including the twilight Summer Competition, which will benefit local football, softball and touch footy teams.
