Veterans' Health Week 2021 - Funding now available

Thursday, 17 June 2021

Veterans and their families are being encouraged to get moving and increase their physical activity, with $200,000 in funding available nationally to assist community groups and ex-service organisations with planning and hosting Veterans’ Health Week events in October 2021.

This year’s theme for Veterans’ Health Week will be ‘Get moving’, and the veteran community is encouraged to plan early for their events this year.

Federal Member for Hume Angus Taylor said Veterans’ Health Week, from Saturday, 16 October to Sunday, 24 October 2021, was a great opportunity for veterans and their families to participate in an event.

“Ex-service organisations or community organisations with links to the veteran community are eligible to apply for funding or to register an event for Veterans’ Health Week,” Mr Taylor said.

“Physical activity is such an important contributor to our emotional, mental and physical wellbeing and is even more critical due to the challenges faced in the past 15 months with COVID-19.

“Whatever the activity, keeping our bodies and minds active plays an important part in living and ageing well.

“I encourage veteran groups to think about activities they can organise for Veterans’ Health Week in their community that will encourage veterans and their families to come together and get moving.”

Ex-service and community groups are encouraged to get creative and apply for $720 in funding to support their activities.
